چکیده

The items that incur a gradual loss in quality or quantity over time while in inventory are usually called deteriorating items. In reality, there are some items whose value or utility or quantity increase with time and those items can be termed as ameliorating items. In this paper, an effort has been made to incorporate these two opposite physical characteristics of stored items into inventory model. We develop models for ameliorating/deteriorating items with timevarying demand pattern over a finite planning horizon, taking into account the effects of inflation and time value of money. Optimal solutions of the proposed models are derived and the effects of amelioration/deterioration on the inventory replenishment policies are studied with the help of numerical examples. 2003 Elsevier B.V. Economic Order Quantity for Deteriorating Items with Non Decreasing Demand and Shortages Under Inflation and Time Discounting

Some products like green vegetables, volatile liquids and others deteriorate continuously due to evaporation, spoilage etc. In this study, an inventory model is developed for deteriorating items with linearly time dependent demand rate under inflation and time discounting over a finite planning horizon. Shortages are allowed and linearly time dependent. Mathematical model is presented for the p...

Erratum to: "Economic order quantity models for ameliorating/deteriorating items under inflation and time discounting"

In a recent article published in European Journal of Operational Research, 162 (2005) 773–785, Moon et al. [1] develop economic order quantity models (A, A1, and B) for deteriorating/ameliorating items which have time-varying demand pattern over a finite planning horizon, taking account of inflation and time value of money. Although the formulation of the total cost function in all the models i...

A new study of an EOQ model for deteriorating items with shortages under inflation and time discounting

We discuss the effects of inflation and time discounting on an EOQ model for deteriorating items under stock-dependent demand and time-dependent partial backlogging. The inventory model is studied under the replenishment policy starting with no shortages. We then use MATLAB to find the optimal replenishment policies. The objective of this model is to maximize the total profit (TP) which inclu...

Optimal pricing and replenishment policies for instantaneous deteriorating items with backlogging and trade credit under inflation

In this paper we develop an economic order quantity model to investigate the optimal replenishment policies for instantaneous deteriorating items under inflation and trade credit. Demand rate is a linear function of selling price and decreases negative exponentially with time over a finite planning horizon. Shortages are allowed and partially backlogged. Under these conditions, we model the ret...

Partial backlogging inventory lot-size models for deteriorating items with fluctuating demand under inflation

In this paper, the traditional inventory lot-size model is extended to allow not only for general partial backlogging rate but also for inflation.
